JCI Hi-Line Jaycees Glow Run

A glow run fosters positive youth development through several specific avenues:

Altruism and Philanthropy: By participating in a run tied to a cause, youth learn the value of giving back. Setting fundraising goals teaches them how to articulate a mission and mobilize their community.

Leadership and Character Building: Many youth programs pair glow runs with leadership curriculums. Young people learn to mentor peers, organize activities, and build public speaking skills by rallying support for their event.Inclusive

Teamwork: Glow runs emphasize participation over intense competition. Youth learn to collaborate by helping non-running peers, cheering squads, and working together as homerooms or teams toward a collective school or charity goal.

Health and Wellness: The energetic environment encourages youth to move their bodies in a fun, non-intimidating way, establishing positive associations with exercise and lifelong healthy habits.

Civic Engagement: Organizing or volunteering for a run teaches young people real-world logistics, such as event planning, budgeting, and marketing, providing them with hands-on civic experience.
