It’s almost time for Annual Meeting, and the agenda is live now! Join JCI USA members from across the country as we gather to learn, celebrate, and elect national officers for 2027. Read on for all the details on what to expect, and how you can get ready to attend.
When & Where
Annual Meeting will be held in Virginia Beach, VA on September 9-13. The bulk of conference activities for general members will take place Thursday-Saturday, with additional trainings and meetings happening throughout the weekend.
With the exception of some off-site activities, the conference will take place at the Wyndham Oceanfront Virginia Beach. This hotel is right on the water – away from crowds, but a short distance from restaurants and shopping for anything you may need on the trip. Don’t forget to pack a bathing suit!
Training & Breakout Sessions
Members will have a variety of engaging breakout sessions and training opportunities to attend, with topics including AI marketing, member recruitment, community project design, and more. Members can also engage with JCI USA programs, including the Advocacy Task Force, Twinning, and Skills Development Competitions.
Some sessions do require registration in advance! JCI Facilitator, led by Michelle McGrann and Bobbie Jo Call, will take place in two four-hour sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. This JCI official course provides members with the skills they need to lead learning opportunities in a variety of formats and contexts. Registration info coming soon!
While all members are welcome to observe and cheer on participants, registration is also required for Skills Development Competitions. Through competitions like Write Up, Speak Up, and Debate, members are invited to elevate their public speaking, writing, critical thinking, and persuasive impact skills. Info on how to sign up to participate as a competitor or judge is available on the Skills Development page of the JCI USA website.
Meetings & Elections
Throughout the weekend, there will also be many meetings that all JCI USA members are welcome to attend and observe. Thursday morning will include the Bylaws Committee, Finance Committee, and Executive Committee. Friday morning, the Board of Directors will convene to weigh in and vote on important organizational decisions.
Saturday morning’s General Assembly will include organizational updates and the election of next year’s officials. If you are running for a JCI USA position, you must attend the Candidate Orientation meeting Thursday afternoon. If you are attending as a voting delegate, make sure to bring your government issued photo ID to the credentialing table Friday afternoon.
Most attendees should plan to depart on Sunday, as the only agenda item is a closed transition meeting, where the 2026 Executive Committee will meet with the newly elected 2027 team.
Ten Outstanding Young Americans
Annual Meeting is also when we celebrate honorees of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA) program! Members are invited to get to know the class of 2026 at an interactive roundtable on Saturday afternoon. Honorees will share their background and engage with members through breakout activities.
The roundtable will be followed by a formal gala that evening to celebrate the TOYA recipients. The iconic trophies will be presented, with speeches from honorees that will leave you feeling inspired. Remember that the dress code for this event is formal – see photos below for some examples!
Celebrations, Networking, & Excursions
While the agenda may be packed, there will also be plenty of time to network and have fun with your fellow Jaycees! If this is your first Annual Meeting, make sure to attend the First Timers session Thursday afternoon, where you’ll get all the details on how to make the most of your experience.
Friday night is the Star Spangled Celebration! Members can get to know the 2027 candidates and other states, with tables showcasing hometown food and drinks. Dinner is provided for fully registered attendees.
Get ready to explore all that Virginia Beach has to offer. Included with your registration are a beach party complete with games, a beer and bourbon tasting, and a guided mural tour showcasing the city’s local art scene. You can also add on a paddle boarding session, catch some waves with surfing lessons, or head out for a dolphin watching excursion, all available for an additional charge.
We are also working on adding more complimentary excursions, so stay tuned for updates. Plus, members will receive a VIP pass offering discounts and other privileges at local businesses throughout the event.
From Thursday through Saturday, feel free to take a break in the Jaycee Lounge at the hotel! If you need to charge your phone, grab a snack, or just find a quiet place to hang for a bit, you can stop by any time between 10am-6pm.
