Skills Development Competitions
Are you looking for ways to challenge yourself and build effective communication skills? JCI USA’s Skills Development program exists as a platform for young leaders to showcase their talents in a low-stakes, supportive environment. Whether you enjoy writing, speaking, or debating, there’s something for everyone! Some competitions at the local, state, & national levels are also eligible to advance and compete internationally alongside JCI chapters from around the world. This one-pager & the descriptions below lists JCI USA’s current Skills Development Competitions offerings.
Build confidence in professional writing through a blog-style competition where members craft engaging, purpose-driven articles. Participants develop storytelling, clarity, and creative expression while learning to communicate impact in written form.
A prepared speech competition designed to strengthen public speaking, confidence, and presence. Members deliver a 5-7 minute speech on an assigned topic, sharpening their ability to inspire, persuade, and connect with an audience.
This fast-paced competition challenges members to think critically and defend ideas in real time. Participants debate both sides of a topic, building logic, adaptability, and teamwork while practicing respectful dialogue.
A career-focused competition that simulates a real job application process. Members submit a LinkedIn profile, resume, and cover letter, then participate in a mock interview with judges, gaining practical feedback for career growth.
Members develop a written policy brief and deliver a live advocacy pitch about an issue they care about. This competition empowers participants to use their voice to influence change through strategic messaging and confident presentation.
Bring your skills together to create an impactful marketing campaign. Members submit an email campaign, social media content, and deliver a live pitch to showcase their abilities in persuasion & audience engagement.
Designed for Every Experience Level
Competitions are offered across multiple levels, including Exhibition (non-competitive learning), Novice, and Master’s, allowing members to grow at their own pace while receiving feedback and recognition.
